If you or your siblings are caring for aging parents, you’re in a tumultuous new life-passage: Caregiving, Medical help, Legal decisions, Death. Your siblings can be there for you like no one else—or they can drive you crazy and make everything harder. How can you make your family work now? THEY’RE YOUR PARENTS, TOO! is the first book to offer siblings a psychological and practical roadmap through this life-changing family transition. Filled with engaging, helpful stories of sisters and brothers with struggles like yours–whether you are the family caregiver or not–it also has research and top clinical expertise from geriatric care managers, family therapists and other experts on caregiving, family psychology, dementia, elder law, end-of-life decisions, and many more issues that can arise during the time of caring for aging parents or in the aftermath. http://www.yourparentstoo.com

End of life issues bring up dysfunction from long ago. When in the same room with your family of origin, it doesn’t take long before one reverts back to behavior when you were a child. Often old “toxic” behaviors raise its ugly head. It’s hard to focus on the needs of your aging parent when you get stuck in old destructive patterns.
I am a therapist who specializes in working with recovery of toxic relationships, i.e. women and children affected by substance abuse or other dysfunction. I train other therapists in a program called: Relationship Recovery: Helping Clients Heal from Toxic Relationships. Healing is possible and preferable before your loved one dies! 1 in 3-4 girls and 1 in 4-5 boys is sexually abused before the age of 18. Child abuse is an epidemic that remains in denial by most of our citizens. I wrote THE INVISIBLE GIRL: UNCOVERING REPRESSED MEMORIES OF CHILDHOOD SEXUAL ABUSE for the purpose of raising awareness for the protection of children. It’s a personal account of living in the aftermath of childhood abuse with repressed memories for 47 years before the truth surfaced. It includes a 28 page guide for parents and professionals about child abuse, symptoms, identifying offenders, reporting and protecting children.
I have worked as an Advance Practice Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatry for nearly 21 years. I am board certified by the National Center for Crisis Management/American Academy of Experts for Traumatic Stress in Acute Stress Management, Post Traumatic Stress, and Sexual Abuse. I write, speak and consult in an effort to protect children from sexual abuse. My website is http://www.percyhouseinfo.com and email address is percyhouseinfo@aol.com

How do you begin with bipolar disorder? Your newly diagnosed clients and their families are asking this question. Even clients who have dealt with the diagnosis for decades are looking for wellness focussed resources that can change lives.
“Bipolar Disorder—Insights for Recovery” and “Beyond Bipolar—7 Steps to Wellness” are easy to access (some read them while extremely ill in the hospital). They ask and answer the hidden questions that clients and their families need to know to seek recovery. With my books, you get two perspectives—that of a person who has learned to live successfully with bipolar disorder and that of a physician who understands it medically.
You can order both books on my website below as well as discover free downloads and other information about bipolar disorder. It’s a user friendly site linking to only high quality sites and resources—a good place to start with bipolar disorder.
